Family:
Hugh Lindsay was the third apprentice taken by William Cokkie. The apprenticeship was booked on 14 Jun.1577 [EGM1, B18, f.101v.]
Hugh Lindsay appears to have had three marriages. The identity of his first wife has not been discovered. They had at least five children, as follows:
Christian, bp.24 Dec.1595
Janet, bp.2 Mar.1598, William Cokkie, goldsmith, witness
Robert, bp.30 May 1599
Agnes, bp.5 Oct.1600, James Crawford, goldsmith, witness
Alexander, bp.11 Aug.1602
He married 2nd, Agnes Ramsay on 14 Apr.1608. They had, at least, two children:
John, bp.22 Dec.1611
Margaret, bp.1.Apr.1613
He married 3rd, Beatrix Robertson on 22 Sep.1618 [EMR].

Career:
He became a burgess by right of his apprenticeship on 27 Sep.1587.
He became a freeman on 17 Oct.1587 with his master serving as the cautioner [EGM1, A69, f.11v.].
Lindsay took six apprentices between 1589-1626.
