Help with provincial teaspoons

Post by rat-tail »

Can anyone help me identify the maker of these silver teaspoons - i presume a provincial make, presume georgian. The makers stamp is stamped once and looks like JE, although the top of the E is much shorter than the bottom - it could almost be JL. Have included marks from both spoons, one with the contrast button on in photoshop. Any thoughts appreciated - regards Frank

Hi Frank,

My money is on James Erskine of Aberdeen, but lets see what others think.

Thanks Trev - had a feeling they may be Scottish - the terminals, drop and of course the weight suggested it - they're well made too.

I agree with Trev.
It's one of his many marks, but, he was making silver pieces for 26 years.
