Nathaniel Freeman of Enniscorthy

Post by dognose »

This is very likely to be the work of a very rare provincial maker, Nathaniel Freeman of Enniscorthy, County Wexford. Freeman registered at the Dublin Assay Office in 1811 and Jacksons has note of him sending spoons for assay in 1812-13 (See Jackson p.702).

My first thoughts were that this was an example of a previously unrecorded retailer mark, but with no evidence of an overstrike and the information from Jacksons, Nathaniel Freeman looks to be the likely candidate as the maker of this spoon.
