Unknown maker - Exeter (?) spoon

Post by Waylander »

Hi

Missing the Lion Passant and a date letter. Town mark looks like Exeter though (happy to be corrected if it is Edinburgh!). Looks like a male duty mark too, for date range.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance for everyone's time

Hi Waylander,

As the spoon has a Celtic point, I would say this is likely an Edinburgh spoon.

William Auld, a known spoonmaker, is the likely candidate.

Although the images are missing in this topic, the description of the chipped punch fits a treat! See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 62&p=39927

Cheers Trev. Have had a look at a William Auld mark, and agree it could be him. Date range consistent too.

Thanks
