1824 Spoon by James Marshall
1824 Spoon by James Marshall
Hey Trev:
As a "THANK YOU" for your assistance! Here is a picture of a Scottish Teaspoon that I was given and the provenance accompanying it tying it to Noted Actor Edward Everett Horton...sort of.
IF I read the Hallmarks correctly - and I may not have - it is the work of James Marshall of Edinburgh, Scotland, is made of STERLING SILVER, and dates to 1824. It measures ~5.625 inches long.
How did I do?
Eggo

Hi Eggo,
Yes, Edinburgh 1824, but the maker is likely James Mackay at that time in partnership with David Cunningham as Mackay & Cunningham.
Unfortunately, 'JM' is the commonest set of Scottish initials and often leads to problems.
