Edinburgh 1817 spoon - Maker unknown

Post by anglo_rarities »

I believe this spoon was made for the family Seton of Tullibody. It bears the logo, "Forward Ours" and a boars head. On the back, a script "AM" is on one side of the assay marks and what appears to be a "TZ" is on the other side. Can anyone tell me of the silversmith who made the spoon?

Sorry, quickly discovered with my own research that John Zeigler (JZ not TZ) was the maker and AM was probably the retailer.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I enlarged your picture of the mark.

Hate to say this, but I believe John Ziegler's mark was IZ.

Pat.
