Large Wine Coaster - Help please on marks

Post by MonocleMike »

Overall diameter 5.75 inches. Wooden base with button. I am a complete amateur trying to identify the marks for the first time. I think the lion indicates Glasgow or Edinburgh. I think the castle indicates Edinburgh. The maker's mark is A & GC but I can't find that in the encyclopaedia and the year mark is a lower case U but I cannot find anything young enough in the encyclopaedia.
Any help will be gratefully received.

I hope I've posted these links correctly - I've tried my best.[/b]

Well, the date is Edinburgh 1994. I'm afraid I don't know the maker.

A&G.C would be A. & G. Cairncross of Perth.

All the best,
