Glasgow maker help

Post by clown123 »

Anyone know the maker's mark on this snuffbox? 1872 - I'm pretty sure that it is Glasgow. I've tried the usual sources online to no avail.

Thanks.

Hi,

Not 100% sure, but it could be Robert Drummond & Son (Robert Drummond and Gregor Turnbull Drummond) of Stirling & Oban. They entered a similar mark at Edinburgh, and could well have entered Glasgow as well.

Trev.

That looks like an excellent guess to me. Much appreciated. I'll try and research Drummond.
