Knife rest George Fenwick??

Post by polo_fer_lauren »

Hello every one.

Here we have a pair of knife rest whose hallmarks are worn-out, or even incomplete.

As far as I can see, they are Scottish (THISTLE-EDINBURGH) and georgian. George Fenwick is probably the silversmith. Please let me know your opinion.

By the way, no trace of date letters!

All opinion are welcome.

Yes, I think you're right with the maker. All the London knife rests I've seen have had a date letter, so perhaps it wasn't obligatory in Edinburgh. The date is probably around 1810.
