2 x Sheffield spoons unknown date mark ?

Post by felledge1965 »

Hello , I was wondering if anybody could identify the date mark on these 2 delightful small spoons . They have the lion and the crown hallmark , and they also have what i think may be the makers name (H.W) please have a look at the picture on : Image
Many thanks Paul .

Paul,

Your spoons were made in Sheffield 1917. They are copies of a late 17th century design called the trifid spoon with a triple lined rat-tail.
I can't quite make out the maker's mark in your picture, but if it looks like the one below then Harry Wigful is your man.
