? Sheffield or date letter
Hi. I wonder if anyone has any idea. I have two silver handled forks. The prongs are plated but the handles are silver and are hallmarked. Lion and queen victoria in circular cartouche. Maker AH. I thought they were sheffield as the third mark looks like an early crown, but there is no date letter or letter next to the crown. Perhaps it isn't a crown but a date letter. I have looked and looked at the 'crown', i'm not sure. I just wondered if anybody has a more educated guess than I do. Appreciated as always. Gary

Hi Gary,
Please post a good-sized image of the maker's mark.

Yes, a better image is a must, but it might help you to remember that early Sheffield hallmarks on smaller items (up to 1853) had the crown and date letter combined into a single punch.
