Unknown Maker? Sheffield 1889

Post by harryjames »

Hi All,

I have a nice sugar bowl and milk jug I cannot identify the maker.
Pictures below.

Makers mark reads 'SF' - 'AJF' ?

I believe the other marks date it to 1889, Sheffield.

Thanks in advance,
Harry

Hi Harry,

That's the mark of Fenton Brothers, South Moor Works, Earl Street, Sheffield.

They registered the mark with the Sheffield Assay Office on the 9th April 1888.

I should have mentioned, the initials stand for Samuel Fenton and Alfred John Fenton.
