Help with Makers name & date of Silver Pendant - post 19

Post by maxweb »

Hi
I am new to this site and require some help. what I know about hall markings etc you can write on a stamp. I have done some research and think I have found some information and hoping someone can confirm/clarify for me.
It is a fairly chunky silver pendant approx dia. L 35mm x d 22mm x w 12mm
I have managed to get some magnified pictures which I hope will help.

from left to right IJ (that's I as in Indigo and J as in Juliet) then a symbol that possilby looks like a rose (my research suggests this was the Sheffield town symbol used post 1975?? a lion and then a date letter which looks like a D

I used to wear this but it's quite heavy.. ;) and nearly fogot to tell you it's in the shape of a box of part opened Bryant and May matches with Capt Webb on front and back.
Regards, Maxine

Your piece is marked for the assay office at Sheffield and the date mark indicates 1978.
