J Nowill and Sons Marks

Post by aare »

Hi,

Not sure this is the right place to post this but I have identified an unlisted Sheffield maker's mark because it is on knife handles and the makers name is etched in full on the blade.

I often use this site to identify silver so I thought I should put this information into the pot somehow.

I have photos but not sure how to upload them, anyway the Mark is J.N&S in a rounded rectangle and the name etched on the blade is J.Nowill and sons

Putting aside for once the Forum's requirements for images it has to be said that an unlisted mark hasn't been discovered. A mark comprising a rectangle with rounded corners containing JN & S with a pellet (dot) after the letter J was registered in Sheffield by J Nowill & Sons of 135 Scotland Street, Sheffield on 17th May 1901.
