Silver Box

Post by jolly »

A silver box measuring about 2.5 inches long

It has hallmarks on the lid and the box. From what I can see from the date it looks like Chester 1726 but I could be way off. Can anybody tell what it was used for please?

It also has numbers etched into the lid to the left of the hallmarks.

Hi,

Your box was indeed made in Chester but in 1901. The maker is George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.

Thanks for that.

I did think 1726 was a bit off and can now see the correct date letter.
