Hello all,

I've been googling but I'm not coming up with a definitive answer. Can anyone help tell us anymore information about this pendant found in my grans things earlier? Neither myself or my mum have seen it before and googling the hallmarks is giving conflicting information as we can't be sure its exactly the same as whats coming up, mostly as we can't work out what the shield is and there's nothing like that 'M' coming up.

I think the shield means perhaps that it's from Chester?

You are correct in thinking that the shield means Chester. The hallmark shows the maker's/sponsor's mark of Albert Ernest Jenkins of Vittoria Street, Birmingham. As well as the Chester Assay Office's sword and wheatsheaves mark in the shield we see the lion passant mark for sterling silver and the date letter M for the Chester assay year 1912/13. The pendant is actually a stamp case, an item which Jenkins seems to have specialised in.
