Hi there, I am trying to decipher the markings and having a hard time. I believe it is from Birmingham, but having a hard time with the date and marker.

The pictures on it are an anchor, lion and an M. The marker seems to be SMLLTD but the M isn't distinctive and could be something else.

Thanks!

Maker is probably S M Levi Ltd (http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Make ... SN.html#SM). That particular iteration of the maker was used 1932-1939, which is consistent with the date letter (being 1936 in my view).

Thank you! That history is amazing! I'm so glad to know more about this. We have multiple pieces of silver but they are scattered between relatives. It is very pleasing to know what pieces go together now!
