Joseph Willmore Nutmeg Box

Hello. I seem to have found a Nutmeg Box done by Joseph Willmore from the early 1800s under George III. I cannot lock down an exact year for it though and above the first set of hallmarks is what appears to be a string of numbers that do make any sense to me. I'm wondering if anyone could offer information on a more precise time frame or what the numbers above the hallmarks might mean.

Your pictures are not at all clear. However the date letter may be lowercase "l" for 1809. The numbers you refer to are even less clear in your picture but look like they may be hand-applied, possibly by a later owner. In any case they are not part of the hallmarking system. Perhaps you can supply some clearer pictures.

Yes, that's the 1809 "l". The scratched numbers may be an inventory mark or perhaps a pawnbroker's number. In any case they have no obvious significance.
