Please help for maker's mark J & C

Post by frenchie_myriam »

Hello All,

Here is another of my inkwells for which I cannot trace the maker. Could you please help. I know it was assayed in Birmingham in 1913. Maker's mark is J & C. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture !
Thanks in advance for your help.

Your mark is probably Herbert (Hubert) Crompton trading as Jones & Crompton. They were silversmiths at 36 Spencer Street Birmingham

Hubert Crompton joined Edward Samuel Jones in 1899. Their joint mark was entered in February 1899.

Many thanks Neruda,

Maybe you could have a look at my other postings as I am still puzzled with some of the maker's mark.

Thanks again for your help and knowledge

Best regards
Myriam
