Maker Identification Needed: WC

Post by sgeosits »

I am not a silver specialist and could use help in identification. The piece that I have a question about is a repoussed sterling silver heart-shaped frame overlay. On the lower right of the piece the hallmarks present are the initials WC - the London city symbol - the Sterling silver symbol - and the date symbol that appears to be a letter "a", that I believe could be either 1898 or 1776. This WC is William Comyns and Sons. The "a" is the London date code for 1896.

The edit in your post was to remove mention of a topic forbidden by forum rules.
