Hello, I am new to hallmarks and would like to identify the date of a coffee pot that has been handed down through the family.
Am I right in indentifying the marks as Sterling Silver, London and the date mark as U for 1755?
But I can't match the makers mark. Is it "A.L" followed with a star underneath? I can't identify what letter or symbol is above the letters.
Any help greatfully received.
Many thanks,
David

Hi, I read the marks as London 1775 not 1755, by the maker Augustus Le Sage. A very nice piece by an excellent maker by the way.

Many thanks for your swift feedback. Yes, I see that I made a mistake on the date from the date chart it is indeed 1775.
Much appreciated.
