1962 silver vase

Post by luis-simon »

Hello,

I bought this silver vase and i would like to know for sure if it's made of solid silver or only silver plated. Today i cleaned it with some tooth paste and as you can see in the photos, at the top it has a yellowish color.
I found out that the maker is S Albrechtssons Guldsmedsaffär and from my point of view it has all the right hallmarks.
Can you please give me more details regarding this piece and also confirm if it's made of solid silver?

Thank you in advance,
Luis

Hi,
Yes, it`s made of solid sterling silver (fineness .925).
The date letter M9 stands for 1962.
For Swedish marks see here:

Thanks for the reply but do you have any explanation for the yellowish top and bottom parts? (I mention that i rubbed harder there)

yellowish top and bottom parts
Depends on exposure to different chemicals in water and air. I suppose flowers were kept in it. Different color of patina.
Anyway, it`s superficial.Get good silver polish (not abrasive) and be patient with it.
