835 Russian Cigarette Case

Post by Smakkk »

Hi everyone, I know that 835 is usually German but with the applied gold and design with this case it looks a lot like Russian. There seems to be three castles on the hallmark.
I was wondering if you guys can help me answer the following.

When was this made?
Who made this?
Is it Russian or German?
What kind of hallmark is this?
Is it normal that they don't hallmark the applied gold?

Thanks!!

Hi,

The only hallmarks shown are Swedish Import marks. Are there no other marks anywhere on the item?

Thanks for the response Trev,

I was wondering is it possible that the maker didnt hallmark the gold that is applied to the case? Or that it is not gold at all..

thanks again

Hi smakkk
I have also some cigarette case with golden letters/names in my collection.
No one is hallmarked, but most of them are not plated, but massive gold. You can test it with acid, carefully for not damaging the item.
Kind regards
