Russian "сф" mark ?

Post by emilgaigns »

I saw an item at an estate sale, that looks a bit strange.

The kokoshnik looks like Yakov Nikolayevich Lyapunov used in St. Petersburg 1898-1903

Makers mark is сф

Could that be Karl K. Fischer or Samuel Filiander, both active in St.P ?

Also, there is a gold mark that also doesn't seem right somehow.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Always suspicious with imperial eagle where it does not belong (the easel). And Nicholas II miniature - what is it ?
Marks not on the frame itself behind enamel (impossible to add faked marks because enamel would crack, therefore safe places are chosen.Genuine marks were usually struck before enameling).
What is gold mark and where ?
IMO the frame was genuine nice cloisonne but transformed into a ``Russian imperial`` piece.

Imperial eagle- I'm also concerned about that. Also I attach a better photo of the eagle.

I usually take apart all separate pieces and inspect them.
Riveting of applications, particularly miniature portrait - watercolor on ivory ? Does not look like enamel.
Is it really gold ?

The enamel is guilloche technique...or it looks like it. What is the picture,a painting on enamel or what kind of painting? Is it possibly a print. Look for raster. The gold mark 56 is suspicious...the whole object looks dubious in my eyes. Samuel Filander punched Latin SF.

Gold tested positive with 14k gold acid.
It is a watercolor as I can see.

Hi emilgaigns -

You show, as in your previous post, that you did not understand the main features of Russian silver. Otherwise, I can not explain your posting and the discussion of such grotesque concoctions.
Every attempt to explain is completely pointless!
By the way, this forum is the wrong place to analyze such primitive fakes.
Try to discover authentic Russian silver - even if it's just a simple but nice spoon.

Regards
Goldstein
