Russian Silver Powder Box?

Post by boysilmet »

I believe this is a Russian silver powder box, but the hallmark is a little banged up. Can anyone tell me what this item is and provide a date of manufacture? It measures about 2 5/8 inches in diameter by about 1/2 inch deep, and weighs about 64 grams. Image

Hi,
The compact was made in Soviet Union (USSR) in Leningrad, Gostiny Dvor.
ЛЮТ stands for ЛенЮвелирТорг, an early mark of the Leningrad Jewelers and Watch factory. (Before ЛЮ)
Sometimes wrongly interpreted as `` Leingrad Jeweller Association``
Best wishes

Leingrad Jeweller association (Ленинградское Ювелирное Товарищество) could be correct.
