Russian Knife

I found this knife in my mother's house after she died. I was hoping someone could tell me something about it. Any information at all would be much appreciated.

The knife bears the mark of Brothers Gratchev Factory (Br. Gratchev) 1866- 1918

There should be silver marks on the handle. I suggest cleaning it and then take close up images of marks.

Hi,
Yes. It`s collectable, Brothers Gratchev being very famous Imperial Russian silversmiths.
The blade is made of high carbon steel, not stainless steel. Black rust I see is stable and will not deteriorate the blade. Clean it with Vaseline petroleum jelly or pure mineral oil/gel using a cotton rug. You should refrain from using any form of abrasive such as steel wool or sandpaper.
There are many silver cleaners to treat the handle.
