Russian Cigarette Tin

Post by mark3967 »

I have recently purchased I silver plate (or so I think it is) cigarette tin. I believe it to be of Russian origin, owing to the inscription on the front. Could anyone please help in determine the actual date and maker of the item?

Many Thanks,

I have added two photos of the item.

Your cigarette case is not plate. It is silver in the fineness of 875/1000 (84 zolotnik). Your pictures are unfortunately rather unclear. However, it looks like Moscow 1908-1917 (26) but the maker's mark is too smudgy. Try to take new sharper close ups of all marks on the case. There should be marks on both halves. Crop to the marks only as well as to the text. As for now that's all I can tell. Kindly tell the case measures as well.
Please note that the above stated except the fineness are assumptions only. Facts need better photos.
