HI ALL
I have this Russian silver niello piece.
What is it?
I see it has the first Kokoshnik Mark, who is the letters on the right? & underneath there seems to be another Cyrillic? mark which I cannot make out.
The top part has these 2 hallmarks which I think is Sergey Agafonov, am I right? What is the second mark next to it?
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
What are the hallmarks & what is it?
Re: What are the hallmarks & what is it?
Hi niceguy 1 -
this is the fragment of a small dagger which was carried by the women of the Caucasus region to their native costume, hooked to the belt.
Made in Kiew around 1892 by OA, an by name unknown silversmith. > PL p.166, # 646
Here 2 photos how this object looks in full (several models known).

It is made a bit later because the assayer's initials are ЛО. That would be Lev Oleks assaying in Kiev 1905-1914. Nonetheless, I wonder why there is another maker's mark (?) on the scabbard, this ПШ like it looks like or ?
