Snuffbox. Russian??

Post by amena »

I bought yesterday this snuff box, very well engraved, which I suppose is Russian. It has six marks, three on the lid and three on the bottom. On the lid you see a mark "ee" a mark "84" and a mark in which a person with great imagination could see St. George.
On the bottom you see the same brand "ee", an incomplete mark in which reads only “1849”, and again 84.
Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is Russian and made in Moscow 1849. The maker's mark "ee" is known and it could be Jevrem Jevdokimov 1836-1856 but I have no proofs to show it is him, only asumpitions.
