i recently found what i think is a russian silver kiddush cup.
i would greatly appreciate it if you can help me identify the marks.
the numbers that appearing are: 84 , 1879 and something that looks like 8.8 or B.B

I'm sorry, but the marks on yours cup are looking very doubtfully. In 1872 the order of marking of silver was another. (Pic.)
- Cartouche "84"
- Town mark
- The initials of the assay master
Besides, very strange connection of a cup's leg and the basis.

The leg was broken and repaired ... This workmanship is not from a great artist.

do you mean that it can be a fake or just poor quality?
by the way the leg is removable. it can be unscrewed to the cup.
