Alexander Kordes was born in Riga in Latvia 1802. He became journeyman 1824 in St Petersburg and master 1828 or 29. As from 1839 the court started to order from him and as from 1840 he was granted the title court supplier. He marked from 1828-1874. Some sources mention that only to 1868. His marks were KORDES, AK A·K possibly also AK.
He produced a lot of thing to the court and especially to the Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolajevitsh. He had a workshop in different addresses in St Petersburg.
