Sterling Silver Model Ship with Marble Base

Post by gg11311 »

I picked this piece up at a local estate sale and was pleasantly surprised to find a "Sterling .925" stamp on it. I am hoping the community might be able to help me

1 - Identify a possible maker (I haven't found a mark yet)

2 - Accurately Describe the ship (Colonial era Brittish?)

3 - Figure out what the best/easiest way to polish and clean the piece (it is very tarnished)

4 - (admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

I have found in the past that these forums are a wonderful resource of knowledge and thank you all in advance for sharing your time and knowledge.

I've seen these in the past, but unfortunately I can't remember all of the details. It is the supposed to be one of Columbus's ships I think and was possibly made in Mexico. Hope you find out more soon.
