More help please.

Post by emw2455 »

I was recently given two pieces of silver by my Aunt. The first I have already posted, here is the second. I would describe it as an "Arts & Crafts" style shallow bowl with 4 ball feet. The marks located on the underside of the bowl are: the symbol for pound sterling inside a diamond leaning on a standing lion; underneath both those symbols is a bar of some type. Underneath the bar are the words "HAND BEATEN" and just below that is "Sterling" 599. I can find no other marks on the bowl.

Can anyone help me with the location and dating of this piece? I've not been able to find anything on the web or from the library.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I believe that is Lebolt & Co, Chicago after 1912.

Thanks for the information. Not having the name "Lebolt" on the bowl had me leaning towards it being English or Scottish made.
