The employes of the R. F. Simmons Co. presented a handsome silver loving cup last week to Joseph L. Sweet of the corporation, prior to his departure with a party for Egypt. He is expected to return April 15. The itinerary includes many points of interest in Southern Europe.

Jacob Johnson, who for a number of years has been employed by the R. F. Simmons Co. left last week to become affiliated with the Royal Flying Corps. The employes and firm gave Mr. Johnson a big purse of money and a fine fountain pen.

R. F. Simmons & Co. have finally decided to build a factory at Attleboro. It will be built near the main line of the Old Colony Railroad and therefore have every facility. The plans as now drawn up call for a building of the following dimensions ; Length 255 feet, office frontage 60 feet, width of main building 36 feet. It will be of wood and three stories high.

Fred C. Nye, for 20 years in the employ of the R. F. Simmons Co., died last week. He was an officer of the R. F. Simmons Relief Association.

Lawrence A. Abbott, for 18 years with the R. F. Simmons Co., has succeeded Amos S. Blackinton, Jr., as foreman for S. O. Bigney & Co. Mr. Blackinton on leaving the Bigney factory last week was presented by his employer and fellow workers with a handsome dining table.

The firemen were again called out last Monday to extinguish a fire in a big coal pile in the rear of the factory of the R. F. Simmons Co.

R. F. Simmons Makes Many Bequests

Attleboro, Mass., Oct. 27.—The will of Robert F. Simmons was on Wednesday presented for probate in the Taunton court. In this as in his life, his tendencies toward benevolence are noticed. He remembered those who had been in his employ and faithful for any length of time. Joseph L. Sweet, Edward R. Price and George A. Adams are named as executors.

Some of the bequests are as follows: To Mrs. S. E. Fisher, $5,000; to the town of North Attleboro $8,000 on condition that it lays out, curbs and establishes a public park within two years on the triangle at Attleboro Falls, the same to be known as Simmons Park; to the trustees of Tuft's College $2,000 to establish a scholarship to be known as the Mary T. Simmons scholarship; also $2,000 to the same college to establish the Robert F. Simmons scholarship; to S. E. Fisher $2,000; for the care of his famous horse, Del Monte, $3,000; to Mary Sleeper, employe of R. F. Simmons & Co., $1,500; to Edward R. Richardson, book-keeper of the firm, $500; to his next of kin $15 000, share and share alike; Mrs. William Stanley, Milwaukee, Wis., in trust for her children $8,000; Sadie Fisher, daughter of S. E. Fisher, $2,500.

Other bequests were : Christian Klee, an employe $500; Joseph Codding, E. L. Evans, Sarah C. Clark, Mary, Louise and Helen Stone, Ada R. Evans, Frederick Burden, The Attleboro Agricultural Association, Lina Blackinton, E. F. Burden, Estelle Sloan, of New York, and Emma Blackinton, $500 each. Joseph L. Sweet will receive $5,000, George A. Adams and Edward R. Price $1,000.

The trustees of the Mount Hope Cemetery are allowed $1,250 for beautifying that place. His diamonds and library go to C. G. Emery and daughter, of New York, and the remainder of the estate, including fine art works, the mansion, etc., are to be sold or disposed of as the executors see fit.

ATTLEBORO FALLS

One of the best known firms in this vicinity is that of R. F. Simmons & Co. The senior member of this firm is a man generally liked by every one. He thoroughly enjoys holding the reins over a fast horse and owns several speedy animals, the best one being “ Del Monte,” who has figured in two or three big races this past season and has a record of 2:21½. J. L. Sweet, his partner, resides in Attleboro, where he is looked upon as one of the leading citizens. He is a man very positive in his opinions and of late has taken a very active part in the affairs of the town. The firm have enjoyed a good degree of prosperity in in their business and at present have plenty of orders on their books.

Joseph L. Sweet, of the R. F. Simmons Co., gave an interesting address before the ministers of the Attleboros on Saturday afternoon. He described his pilgrimage to Palestine and the Holy Land.
