The Chatham Electroplating Works has been started at Chatham, Ont., Canada, by P. W. Burk and G. R. Speed. Their factory is located at 1 Lacroix Slip. The proprietors have had seven years experience in the electroplating line, and all kinds of jobbing plating will be carried with particular attention paid to refinishing jewelry and high grade goods.

LEVI BAILEY

Cornwall, Ontario


The Brockville, Ont., police have arrested an Indian named Joseph Bach, of St. Regis, who is suspected of being implicated in the burglary of Levi Bailey’s store at Cornwall. Bach, at the time of his arrest, had several articles of jewelry in his possession, which, it is said, tally with some of the goods missing from the Cornwall store. The police are making a full investigation.

THE HEMING JEWELLERY COMPANY

The Heming Jewellery Company's premises on Vitré street were burnt out on the first of the month. The firm has secured a larger factory on Seigneur street and expects to employ a larger staff.

Charles Geddes, in addition to carrying on his watchmaking and Jewelry business in Halifax, which he advertised between 1787 and 1795, became a prominent and very successful dry goods merchant in Barrington Street.
