Unsure of these marks on butter knife ( H. D ; King's Head ; Lion ; letter "F"

Post by uknowme »

My wife and I are in the process of cleaning out our garage and stumbled upon some old silverware that was left by the previous owner. Among the items I found the butter knife (I think that's what it is) pictured below. I don't know if it's plated or sterling, but because I didn't want my post deleted I thought it safer to post it here. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. My albeit uneducated opinion is that the first "H. D" (left to right) is the maker's mark; the next appears to be King George III; the next looks like a walking lion (facing right); and the last is the date letter.

Anyone have any idea who the maker is; if it's sterling or plated; and anything else I should know. I've been sitting over this thing with a magnifying glass for the last hour. I'd love to know what it is. :)

Thanks.

That looks to me to be the makers mark of Henry Dennery
