Interesting Russian (Soviet) Gold Ring

Post by demfer »

Hello,

I understand the hammer & sickle with 583, indicates 14K gold, 58.3% (likely rose gold, with copper). The ring has an additional mark "93K" - does anyone know what this indicates or has additional information on this piece?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

A sharper image of the below mark will reveal the city of assay, perhaps Lviv in Ukraine or St. Petersburg.

You are far more likely to get a response if you embed your images as very few people will click on links.

In the other mark I suspect the 3 is actually a cyrillic Z so transliterated the mark would read 9ZK. 9 is likely to stand for the year (perhaps 1969 or 1979) and ZK would identify the workshop that made the piece, but I don't have any references for specific Soviet makers. One of our Russian experts may come up with an answer.
