I have a gold ring and although most of it is clear to see with a magnifying glass its difficult to take a pic and show it here.

Anyway here is what I can see?? and in the order left to right

Something that looks like A.C.Co It looks as though there is a dot under the lower case 'o' (Could this be the maker... Albert Cohen?)

A Crown

18

Then is what looks like Sword with 3 sheaves of hay. (Could this be the Chester mark?)

Then there is a sort of swirly 'O' Could this be the (Chester date mark for 1914?)

Here is a pic of the ring it does have some sort of stone in it.

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the marks on the image are too indistinct to see.
Your description of the sheaves and sword suggests the town mark is that for Chester.
On the basis that Chester assayed the item The Compendium of Chester Gold & Silver Marks 1570 to 1962 by Ridgway & Priestley shows only one series of A.C Co marks with a dot under the “o” registered at the Chester Assay Office, these from 1900-1952 by the Albion Chain Co.
Albert Cohen trading as Cohen & Charles entered a mark in 1895 as A.C & Co with a bar under the “o”.
A clearer image will be needed for more specific comment.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for posting the extra details. The maker is, as Mike noted, that of Frank Rabone and Walter Hayes Rabone, trading as Albion Chain Co. of 39/40, Albion Street, and 49, Frederick Street, Birmingham.

Your ring was assayed at the Chester Assay Office in 1914, the maker's mark was registered with them on the 6th May 1910.

Trev.

Thank you that's very helpful. Just need to try and dig up some history on the company now, any ideas where I could start?

The publication mentioned in my previous post notes the Company was part of S Blanckensee & Son Ltd by 1933 and associated with Podolsky of 102-108 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1 by 1952.
As the Albion Chain Co was a Birmingham company that City's archives would be a place to start searching for earlier information.
