Egyptian Silver Spoon

Post by mygoldrocks »

Hi,

I have come across this plain spoon which is marked with Egyptian solid silver and two symbols, I am used to the usual Egyptian hallmarks but I have not come across this before.
Can anyone help identify the markings and whether it is plate or solid silver?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with 'Egyptian silver' but would think its a trade name for silver plated cutlery
In England there was a company Daniel & Arter in Birmingham who marketed cutlery under a variety of similar trade names such as Brazilian Silver, Indian Silver, Japanese Silver etc.
I suspect that this is a similar thing

That does seem to be one of the trade names used by flatware makers for their unplated nickle silver pieces. It is an alloy of nickle, copper and zinc which can be polished to look like silver.
