Hi, we have some cutlery that traces back to French citizens living in Algiers in the 1930s and 1940s. There’s a distinctive insignia, plus the incscription “Argental 849”. Here is an image: Image

Any insights?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum
The maker is French Société Anonyme Argental, registered in 1921.
The symbol is a halberd ("une hallebarde"): medieval pole-axe.
Number indicates thickness of silverplating.
Cheers
