Desperately seeking direction

Post by ttislandgirl »

I have come across a beautifully ornate old silver ( I think teapot)
I am new to antique silver so I need help.

The lid is missing and the hallmarks on the bottom bear no resemblance to the ones I've seen on the sites.

They consist of 5 characters in square "shields"
all letters in OLDE ENGLISH script..... as follows
E B W & S
Im sorry I have no picture. The letters look like those used for dating in the Dutch system in the 1800's...can anyone shed some light??

Sincere thanks.
