Post by ctree1066 »

Hello all,

I found these marks on the underside of the lid to what appears to be a hot chocolate pot, please can someone help to identify them?

Indeed Trev, it is Brussels Belgium
Literature: Walter van Dievoet

Brichaut Jean Baptiste Philipe
Orfevre employ at the guarantee office, tester of the mint
Brussels, about 1761
Fs. Jean Joseph Brichaut, goldsmith, and Catherine Randoux
x Marie Rosalie Monnoyer.

Jean Baptiste Brichaut was already goldsmiths under the old regime, and appeared on the board of 7 floreal of year VI and the Table of 6 floreal of year VII. He had a goldsmith's certificate at the rue des Chapeliers in 1798 before his employment at the guarantee office, as first to employ, and as esaayeur of the Mint afterwards. On June 24, 1835, he left Brussels for Schaerbeek
