830S and other marks

Post by Silvermania »

830S with other marks, Norwegian? Danish? These marks are on the base of a Menorah, can anyone please assist with identifying the country of origin, age and makers marks? Than you

Thank you dognose, we've been following up on your lead, and 'Hopeakeskus Oy' is looking very likely. Don't know if their work is collectable or particularly valuable, and also difficult to date, but really pleased to have the information as it gives our piece a story.
Well done, very impressive, and thanks very much.

I'm a bit puzzled with the marks. Only the lion is a Finnish maker's mark. It is as already mentioned Hopeakeskus Oy in Finland. Nowadays called Kultakeskus Oy. What I, anyway, believe is that Hopeakeskus has got an order from a Norwegian wholesale/retailer company and exported the object to Norway. 830S is a typical Norwegian fineness mark. The lack of the Finnish export mark, a crown in a square shield was abandoned in 1974 giving us the approximate time i.e. before 1974. Unfortunately I cannot identify the Norwegian logo to the left. I somehow remember seeing it but....?
