seek help for identify italian silversmith

Post by frenchie_myriam »

Hello Everyone,

I have an italian inkwell but due to location of the hallmark it is impossible to take a clear picture.

The hallmark is a rectangular cartouche in which from left to right there is a star, then Number 22, then "PI". In an oval shape there is the mark for 925 silver.

I know this is italian silver but wonder what 22 and PI means.

Thanking you in advance for your help

Best Regards
Myriam

Hi Myriam,

The 22 is the registration mark of the maker, the PI is the provincial mark where the maker resides.
I think the province mark is more of a region mark.

In this case Pisa (not 100% sure about the region).
