Gorham Chantilly sterling silverware mark

Post by dkadams4 »

I just purchased an 8 pc set of "vintage" Gorham Chantilly silverware. All pieces are stamped 'PAT. 1895 lion/anch/G STERLING' in the last quarter 19th Century style EXCEPT the spoons which are stamped 'lion/anch/G PAT. 95 STERLING'. These also have the last quarter 19th Century style stamp, but I am confused as to why the difference. The set was advertised as all pieces having the "old mark." Can someone tell me what the difference is please? Thanks you.
