Spoon from Dresden help with yearmark

Post by Hose_dk »

I have read about the two pieces from Dresden. I also have a Dresden silver spoon.
Gebrüder Schrödel is the maker, then I have the mark for Dresden. And then the year mark.
u or n I cannot see which.
Can you help in whether it is u or n ? What year do these lowercase gothical letters stand for?
Here is the spoon.

and the silvermarks.

Hello, Gebrüder Schrödel is mentioned between ca. 1785 and 1794. The date letter reads like "u" for 1793. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello thank you for the information.
u is very likely otherwise with n it had to be upside down. Normally that is not the case. (I guess.)
I read about Dresden yearmarks - in that other question. That they were difficuld to identify. The year you point out is also likely (in aspect of the way the spoon is manufactured)
And then the year that they were active. I have read that they were very skilled.
So thanks again for the information.
