Hello, this is from Berlin. I do not have access to Scheffler right now, so I cannot be more exact. The D on the left hand side is the letter of the second warden, the mark in the middle is the Berlin city mark with the letter of the first warden, the mark on the right hand side is that of the maker. but too worn to tell. sorry. Regards, Bahner

The first warden N is unknown and stands for ca. 1870-1882. D for the second warden is L.Th. Wendelboe 1854-ca. 1864, what does not match with the N for the first warden. The maker's mark is not legible for me too.

The mark "D" is ascribed, following Scheffler "Berliner Goldschmiede, Hessling Verlag 1968" to Adolph Gustav Diederich (Dietrich) * 8.5.1802, Berlin - 2.11.1858. 1830 Amtsmeister 1850: Silberwarenfabrik.

mark "F" on the right is following Scheffler: Datierte Werke 1868/1870, mark "Bear with N" = Datierte Werke 1869/1882 - no names

Although the N/F combination of assayer's letters dates the spoons to ca. 1869/1870 and thus after the death of Adolph Gustav Diederich, the Diederich silverware manufactory at 33 Kaiserstrasse is listed in Berlin directories until 1872, under the direction of Diederich's sons Gustav Conrad Albert Diederich (23 Nov 1829 - 22 Apr 1869) and Adolf Julius Theodor Diederich (9 Nov 1832 - 5 Oct 1875).
