GWA Maker's Mark - Unknown

Post by JdTepf »

Please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong forum. I look for a forum label "Clueless" but I didn't find it ;)

I have research the "GWA" mark and found no matching maker's name or known location. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. I also do not know what type of spoon it is.... it is similar to a "Jelly" spoon but not sure that is correct either. Here are two pictures:

Thanks so much :)

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Can you try to capture a larger, sharp image of the marks.

Hi Trev,

Thanks for the welcome. I am posting the other pics I have available at the moment and I will try and get a few more tonight. The hard part is that the marks are not really sharp to start with.....

Also if it matters the spoon is approximately 5.5 inches long

Okay, I clean up the marks a little to try and get better images of them. Hope this helps.

Is the first mark the "key" mark from the city of Bremen in Germany? And then the maker's initials? ::: This could be a German spoon? ::: I am not an expert, but I have had a few spoons that I thought were English and they turned out to be from Germany :::

Hi all,

A shot in the dark: Bremen: Georg Wilhelm Aldefeld, around 1820

Thank you all! This is so awesome to know :) I really appreciate your time and energy (and knowledge) in helping me figure this out. In quick research the net seems rather scare on info. So I guess I will do some digging. :) Have a great weekend and Happy Fourth (US)!
