another unknown 18th century mark

Post by R ingo »

Hello,
has anyone an idea about this mark? Most probably the spoon is from (middle or east ?) Germany.

Best regards,
Ringo

Hello Ag2012,

thanks for the tip, but I have neither seen an Osnabrueck-mark on this place (end of the handle) nore a tremulierstich. So I don`t think that this is an Osnabrueck mark.

here is an example from Osnabrueck from the same time: Image

Ringo

Hello Ubaranda,

thanks. I know him, Scheffler mentioned this Goldsmith. Since 1822 he was back in Germany and worked in Brunswick. He became master in 1804. That is to late. Furthermore St. Petersburg mark is different (round).
So I dont think, that he has made the spoon.

Kind regards,
Ringo
