Nuremberg Beaker: Maker's mark a sheep?

Post by HiramGuy »

I am trying to gain information on beaker we inherited. Nuremberg city mark with no date mark. Maker's mark possibly a sheep.
This was brought to the US by my wife's father in 1939. I have no other information on it.

I am sorry but the book from the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GNM), Nürnberger Goldschmiede,
No1060 "Meister mit dem Lamm, 1658.1661"
There is no name of the master. You will find this mark also in Rosenberg3 No4219.

Thanks. Finding an approximate date (ca. 1660) for the manufacture is great. This seems to correspond to a group of silver beakers previously sold by Sotheby's that I found online today after posting to this forum.
